This year is turning out to be a big one. I turned 30 in April and my sister turned 25. My 20s are officially gone and Amy is halfway. I didn't even realize my 30s were already here until it was pointed out to me a month before. Just like everyone else, I felt I hadn't really done much in life before I turned 30 and that I wasn't really in a place in my life that I wished I would have been when I was a teenager, but I am grateful for where I am.
My immediate familly came together to celebrate at my parents' house. It has been a tradition for me since I turned 25, to celebrate my birthday with crawfish, so I was so happy to see my parents ordered some spicy crawfish for me! After crawfish, we had Heavenly Delight cake. I'm not much of a cake fan, but this cake has ginache in between the layers with fruit covering the top. It's so delicious and highly recommended. We always get it for special occassions at HEB.
After spending some family time for my birthday, Greg, Amy, and I headed to Kemah to eat and drink at Prohibition 52. Greg and I had only been there once before and we really enjoyed their Bang Bang Shrimp, plus it was very chill there, while other bars were rowdy and packed. This time, it seemed it had gotten really popular, so there was definitely more people than we expected this time, AND they had a live band. Even with a larger crowd, there was still plenty of space to sit, especially since most people decided to set up at the outside patio section with the band. A few minutes into the begining of the night, one of Greg's high school friends joined us, then after a couple of drinks, we moved on to other bars around the boardwalk before ending the night.
The next morning we headed to Austin, where we did some shopping on South Congress and showed Amy around a bit. This was the second time we brought Fiesta with us to Austin. The first time didn't go so well because of her bad anxiety. We thought this time would be better, since we weren't spending the night, but NOPE. She did get tired, hot, and uncomfortable from the long car rides to and from. Still, the trip was enjoyable and Greg and I loaded up on more Loteria paintings for our patio from Mi Casa. This time, we updated our La Sirena because our original one got faded from too much sunlight. My sister was looking for her own and ended up taking our old one.
Amy did get a couple Austin souvenirs out of the trip. Before heading home we always make sure to try to stop at Family Business Beer Company Brewery. This trip, I found a new favorite drink of theirs, Fourth Color. It was like a fizzy raspberry soda, but without the beer taste. I don't usually drink much because I don't like how bitter beer tastes, but this was so delicious!
This year Amy didn't really want to do much for her birthday except relax at home. I ended up sending her a box of cookies from Tiff's Treats because they're so good and along with the cookies, I included a cute gold Kendra Scott necklace.
And speaking of gifts, here's a highlight of some gifts I received for my 30th:
An oyster shell painted gold with a decorative bee pattern from Greg, a snake necklace, a snake mood ring, and snake earrings from my grandma.
Black forever roses in a Nightmare Before Christmas coffin box, retro typewriter keyboard, and a light up wireless charger from Greg, and Salt & Pepper shakers from my dad. I did also get a really great Ralph Lauren outfit from my sister and my mom, which I will post soon.
