The Proposal

Let's start at the beginning (sort of). We met online in June of 2016, where Greg managed to slip in just in time before I decided to delete the dating app. I had only created one a few hours before he messaged me! We then officially met in-person at Star Pizza where I rambled on and on while he stared at me with a huge smile on his face the whole time.
Greg made it official on July 24th by asking me to be his "Player 2", jaja! We then continued our small adventures for the next 4 years. Falling in love, moving in together, & getting a dog.
Fast forward to December 2020. We rarely get vacation time together, so when it became an option, we took the opportunity & booked a weekend at The Getaway Houston cabin.

Ironically, a couple days before we went on our trip, I had messed with him about wedding rings. Unknown to me, Greg had already planned this trip for a special occasion & had notified both our families beforehand, so I was the only one out of the loop.
Aside from Fiesta (our fur-baby) fighting to adjust to a new place, we had a very relaxing time. On day 2, before dinner, Greg became sneaky & smiley. I became suspicious because he asked me to stay in the cabin with door and windows closed & to not look outside until he came to get me. I never thought it'd be for a proposal, I just assumed he was doing something cute for a date night.

He walked me out to the fire pit, where he laid out rose petals in the shape of a heart & a ton of tiny candles. I was genuinely surprised when he got on one knee. I wish I could tell you what he said (Greg laughs about this every-time), because I basically blacked out until he popped the question.

And guess what...

I SAID YES!
The ring comes from Greg's nani. When his grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary and she received a new ring, this one was saved for him when he was ready, and he chose to pass it to me! It has to be, roughly 70 years old.
Unfortunately, at first, I couldn't wear the ring because it needed to be resized, but now, HERE IT IS!
